MAKE YOUR MARK

Marking Both Rings of Balancer to Spot Failure

This is a customer’s balancer, though the procedure will work on a new one with the rubber bonded outer ring. I make a groove that runs down to the center hub. I use a chisel or a cut-off wheel, then I take a pick with yellow paint and mark the line. Should this balancer ever slip it gives the end user a reference to check the validity of the timing mark.
