DAMPER FIT

May 26, 2026 | ASSEMBLY

Damper fit is something a lot of people don’t check and might not know how important it is. If the fit is too loose, the damper can’t do its job properly and it can walk on the crank snout causing galling. If it’s too tight it’ll gall both surfaces resulting in damage and less contact area between the parts, again reducing the effectiveness of the damper. Dual key dampers can be hard to hone. This simple trick makes it a piece of cake. Fill the keyways with auto body filler and let it harden up overnight. It’s easy to pop it out when you’re done using a screwdriver or punch. Also, we use extreme pressure lube on the snout and the damper to eliminate the risk of damaging the surfaces during install.
